Promotion Process

Promotion is upward movement into a new or established position in the same department with additional/higher responsibilities following a competitive or approved non-competitive process. May include a salary adjustment*.

  • Unit sends Research, Discovery & Innovation Employee Servivces an email from the Department Head requesting/approving the initiation of the promotion process

  • Research, Discovery & Innovation Employee Services sends the request to Associate Vice President for Research for review and approval

  • Once approved, Research, Discovery & Innovation Employee Services prepares a draft offer letter for the incumbent and provides it to the unit for review and routing for signatures.

  • Once fully signed, the unit emails the offer letter back to Research, Discovery & Innovation Employee Services

  • Research, Discovery & Innovation Employee Services enters the necessary transaction(s) into the University's employee management system via UAccess

*Salary adjustments of 10% or higher require Human Resources review and approval
